Just an observer...
Been standing here watching,
Waiting like a good girl,
Falling into a black hole..
Is this what we're gonna become?
♠ dead or dying?Problems in a city,
Been asleep for years and years.
Like a coma,
This passing moment,
Is drowning you in tears.
♠ crying for a loss of youth?And you're standing on a hilltop,
The wind whipping all around,
Been awake inside your mind it seems,
As the world you know is falling to the ground.
♠ trapped in a reoccuring nightmare?Saw a girl just this evening,
As the furniture hit the ceiling.
All you know is upside down,
And his body lies in the ground.
♠ if only you were here?Been smokin' like I used to,
It's a habit for the whores.
Throwing back the vodka
In the doorway between both worlds.
♠ and if I could just escape this?A hint of happiness and a pinch of pain,
Falling down these cellar steps again.
Moment of panic and a cold rush of air,
I'm back where I first started.
♠ could i tell someone?
Just an observer...
Reaching for you, when nothing's there.

"Trapped in a nightmare.."
Because;;
When I was in college I had this really good friend who was being abused. Though I was just the observer, I could see and feel her pain every single day and it hurt knowing that I wasn't able to help her or tell anyone what she was going through.
She wouldn't tell me for about two years; she was really quiet and withdrawn; just a shell her mind corrupted and fucked over by the world.
This piece of work symbolises abuse, emotionally and physically, creation of a fantasy world where nothing like what happens in real life, happens. The numbness that smoking and alcohol provide, even selling your own body just to 'feel' something again. Well... think behind those going through something like that when you read this..!
Edit Oh and the italics on the end of the spade symbols are to be read as some sort of 'after thought' or something in the back of your mind...
