I wanted to produce a piece that dipicted "disintegration" and "decomposition" in the form of burning... in the form of the sun being too hot and turning everything in it's path to cinders in an instant... almost like the end of the world. I liked the idea of everything going up in smoke and ever since I was a child I've always associated ravens and jackdaws and all carrion birds with death and dying. I also love the line "suddenly, we decompose.." from Silversun Pickup's song "Growing Old Is Getting Older" hence the name and theme of this piece. It's dark, it's ever so damn dark and after the week I've had I'm not going to apologise, so like it or don't like it it's up to you!
