when the sun shines
we'll shine together told you i'd be here forever said i'd always be your friend took an oath i'm gona stick it out till the end === About a month before my pony passed away the yard in which I kept her at at the time decided that they would wean her from her best friend [a hunter gelding]. They were inseperable; thus if my girl didn't survive the winter, Merlin would be left behind to cope alone. At first this was done without my knowledge, when I went up their every morning and night they were together, but during the day they would keep them apart for as long as they could stand their whinnies across the field/yard to eachother. He was the only gelding that would go out with a whole field of mares; he would graze with her, lie down next to her, groom her, follow her everywhere and even protect her as to a story that is far to long to tell now. This whole separation business went on for about two weeks before someone told me what was going on; I moved both of them in the end, 'cause if you have never tried moving a horse who is completely devoted to another, then you'll have your work cut out for you. A couple of weeks after she was settled into her new home, my girl decided it was her time to go. They took him away when the vet came and before I knew it she was gone. The thing is; that aparently you can't live without your best friend on earth, because Merlin passed away not two days after her. It would be stupid to say that a horse died of a broken heart, but maybe friendship extends beyond life expectancy through all species. This is dedicated to their extraordinary friendship. I think it's the sweetest thing, yet also the saddest that they both died, but as long as they are both meeting eachother again, where they can be together forever.
The piece is absolutely amazing by the way, completely gorgeous. Lovely use of colors, and I'm amazed at how you didn't really smudge manes + tails all that much, if at all, I don't have my glasses on xD Anyway, this does have to be one of my favorites. Maybe for the fact of the story and emotion behind it, but either way, it's a stunning work of art.

I haven't seen anything with emotion like this in a long time.
Reading your notes under it literally gave me goosebumps. So many people think horses live without emotions, but this shows how strong a friendship between two animals can be.
The emotions in this picture are absolutely breathtaking.
Awesome job! Definately an alltime favorite
